GROUNDS FOR THOUGHT / BOWLING GREEN
Grounds for Thought have been roasting their own beans since 1989, and the Bowling Green-based roasters enjoy a direct trade relationship with their partner farm in Teruel, Colombia.
Direct trade essentially means that there’s no “middle man” importing the beans and taking a cut, and the farmers are paid market value for their coffee. Miguel Llanos is a second generation owner of the Finca El Carmelo farm, and Grounds for Thought are the sole US importer of these beans.

“We began roasting in 1992 as a way to improve quality and deepen our connection to our coffee and the families that grow and produce specialty coffee. We love being able to connect with our customers on a local basis and also sharing the direct trade story of the family farms we work with to import our coffee.”
