FAMOUS FOR: Creative coffee infusions
Most people who’ve been here jump for joy at the variety of coffee drinks on offer. Some of their infusions this summer have consisted of toasted coconut, rocket flower, hibiscus and peach!
Their Instagram is full of great content including new drinks and latte art showdowns. Joy Local follows our Ohio coffee subscription service on IG, so we may be biased but they get first place on the list!
East African Coffee House

FAMOUS FOR: Interesting and different roast profiles
Probably one of the more interesting coffee houses in all of Columbus, as their name suggests, the East African Coffee House makes coffee with beans sourced from countries in this region. Places like Somalia are not one of the “regular” bean-importing countries when it comes to US coffee, so you can absolutely get a different kind of flavor profile with these beans.
Lots of different coffees to try here, but the Somali Shaah (their version of a chai latte) is one of the most popular drinks. The Somali Qahwah is one of their most unique pours: brewed from coffee husks for a rare, eco-friendly cup of traditional Somalian coffee.
Upper Cup at Creekside

FAMOUS FOR: Roast their own beans in-house
There’s always some sort of event going on at one of Upper Cup’s locations, and they’ve been a mainstay of the Columbus coffee scene for over a decade. With beans roasted fresh in-house, you know you’re going to get the best possible cup of coffee here.

FAMOUS FOR: Giving to veteran-related charities, and great coffee!
Locals have long supported this veteran-owned business, partly because of that, but mostly because they just make darn good coffee. Check out their store or catch their converted camper coffee cart, which is one of the more chic coffee carts we’ve seen, at various events around Columbus.
They regularly donate to veteran charities such as Veteran Animal Services. One of the great things about supporting local businesses is that you know every dollar is put back in the community, and SGT Coffee is the perfect example of this.

FAMOUS FOR: Decor, vibes, and darn good coffee
Only at the bottom of the list because they’re not technically in Gahanna, but these guys are frequently mentioned as one of the best cups in the area online and are proudly woman and Filipino owned.
One of the best “Instagrammable” coffee locations, as evidenced by their floral interior and awesome coffee infusion drinks, they should be on every Columbus coffee fan’s to-do list!
